F.A.Q.

1. Who are Los Naranjas?

Los Naranjas are an international group of people who like playing hockey, having a few drinks after the match and meeting new people.

2. Is Los Naranjas an official league club?

We are not an official club and we don’t train mid-week. Members play when they can and when they want.

3. What type of people play?

We are a mixed adult team of all nationalities and all abilities. Any minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Beginners are welcome!

4. Who do Los Naranjas play then?

Los Naranjas play against each other. We divide into orange and white and make two equal sides. Occasionally we organize friendlies against other social hockey teams

5. Where do Los Naranjas play?

We play at the Federación Madrileña de Hockey, Carretera del Pardo, Km 1,800, 28048 Madrid. Parking is available. For more info about the directions click here to visit our contact  page.

6. When do Los Naranjas play?

As often as possible! We generally play from mid September October to July. We play at the weekends.

7. Saturday or Sunday?

Sometimes we play on a Saturday, sometimes on Sunday, this depends on the day the Federación de Hockey Madrileña gives us, – they program the league games first, then ours. We send out a message (usually by Tuesday or Wednesday) to inform members of the allocated day and time. The games are also posted on our meetup page here. www.meetup.com/Los-Naranjas-Field-Hockey

8. What time?

We request a morning slot so that people can go to lunch after if they want, however, this is not often available so we usually play sometime between 11am and 3pm.

9. What do I need to bring?

We have spare sticks that you can borrow and washable shin pads but would recommend you purchase your own equipment if you are a regular player. Decathlon, generally stocks a good albeit limited range of sticks. They can also be purchased from the bar at the pitch. Please bring an orange shirt and a white shirt and long socks.

10. Any tournaments or real matches?

We play in a number of tournaments a year:

  • Local tournaments organized by Los Naranjas or other teams
  • Federación Madrileña de Hockey End-of-Year 7-a-side: We play against all the other teams that play at the Federación’s grounds.
11. Am I insured by Los Naranjas?

No, you need to make sure your own insurance covers you for playing field hockey. Los Naranjas and the Federación Madrileña de Hockey cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries sustained during matches or training.

12. How much does it cost to play and how do I pay?

5 euros a game, every time you come along. Money is collected at the pitch. Alternatively, you can transfer the money to the Los Naranjas bank account as follows:

IBAN: ES88 1491 0001 2430 0011 8261 (Triodos Bank)
Account Holder: CLUB DEPORTIVO ELEMENTAL LOS NARANJAS

13. Where does the money go?

The money covers the cost of the rental of the pitch. It also covers advertising costs and bank account charges. We have a float that is used to cover the deposits needed when organizing the tournament and any other associated costs not covered by tournament fees. This is a fixed amount which is kept year on year. Any extra money at the end of the year is used to cover the costs of replenishing the first aid kit and replacing broken sticks, balls and other equipment. When there is sufficient surplus at the end of year, we organize drinks and tapas after the last match.

14. Who collects the money?

The organizer (currently Hannah) collects the money, writes down who has paid and keeps the information with all the hockey documentation in the Los Naranjas file. This file is available for all members to see. The organizer pays the money into our bank account and makes the payments to the Federación Madrileña de Hockey. In his/her absence, another person is assigned the task of collecting money. This is usually Davy or Reiner.
